The project is part of the DUSI Barrio de la Caridad-Puerta de Europa Strategy, with the co-financing of Feder funds from the European Union.

The works complement those that were recently executed on the Acera de la Marina and Ingeniero Torroja and its surroundings, being spaces that share the problem of lack of unity in their treatment and lack of global planning for the urban complex, shortcomings to which we are now trying to find a solution.

In addition, Ojo del Muelle Street is of patrimonial interest, since in the past it was the connection area of the dock with the medieval shipyards, highlighting that it maintained a slightly pointed Arabic-style arch until well into the twentieth century.

The project involves action on about 70 linear meters, which are given a new layout of pavements and areas for motorcycle parking, eliminating the current deficiencies that affect pedestrian traffic and urban image.

Specifically, it is proposed to adjust the width of the road to the needs of road traffic, which means reducing its current width and converting the meager pavement into another of adequate dimensions for pedestrian traffic. Likewise, it is proposed to modify the chaotic distribution of the small square, allowing its transformation into a living area, lined with trees and with benches.

This action also solves the evacuation of rainwater; It includes the renovation of the public lighting and all the infrastructures, and the burying of the aerial conduits of the different facilities. It is noteworthy that, in order to promote environmental sustainability and the reduction of pollution, a specific pavement is included that, in addition to fulfilling its architectural and aesthetic function, actively contributes to the elimination of polluting elements, resulting highly ecological and sustainable.
